A note from Matt
It has always felt like one big family.
When Burrs opened in 1997, I could not have imagined we would still be here twenty-nine years later. Over the years we have been a real family business, with all of my children working here at some point, and the list of people who have helped make Burrs what it is could go on and on.
It has always felt like one big family, and I genuinely couldn't have done it without you all.
To every chef, every member of the waiting team, every supplier who brought us the best of the Island: thank you. And to our guests, the ones who came for a birthday and then came back every year, the ones who booked the same table for twenty years, the ones who trusted us with an anniversary, a proposal, a farewell of their own. You made the room what it was.
After 29 years, there are so many memories to look back on, and I feel incredibly lucky to have been part of so many people's lives along the way. A change in circumstance and family commitments means the time has come to step away.
It's not an easy goodbye, but it's the right time for me and my family. For me, it's a very emotional goodbye.
Thank you, all of you, for twenty-nine remarkable years.
